Taking a week at a time to any day now...

At my last appointment last Wednesday, 11/26, I asked my doc if he thought the baby would be due on his due date. He said that we were just going to take it week by week.

Well, at my appointment yesterday, it is officially any day now that Jeremy could come. For those of you who know the terms (so I don't have to get too graphic), I haven't started dilating, but effacement has started. The baby is at -2 to -1 station. 0 station means he is ready to come out.

It sure is a good thing that I stopped working. There's no way I would be at all prepared if I was still working. This week has been spent making many runs to Babies 'R' Us and any where else that has stuff I think I'll need. I have been doing lots of loads of laundry. I started packing my bag for the hospital. I still need to clean the house. I have started making some dishes to freeze so we don't have to worry about cooking for a little bit after the baby is born. I wonder if I'll ever feel like we are fully prepared and ready for the baby to come.

The top of my stomach is a rounded square now with how big the baby is and how he sits. When I look down at it, it definitely looks like I have some form of ball under it. I'd say a medium sized beach ball. It's bigger than a volleyball or a basketball.

They say the baby supposedly moves less this late in the pregnancy, but Jeremy is already being a rebel and moves like crazy still. I swear he break dances in there. I mean, he's on his head and it definitely feels like he is spinning around and around. Haha.

We got the best rocking chair ever from Josh's Mom and Grandmother. It is amazing! It is technically a 'glider' because it doesn't actually rock. Here's what it looks like:

I am sitting in it right now as I type this blog, and it is truly amazing. We also got the dresser and changing table from our landlord, so we are all set there.

I think we are as ready as we are going to be...

Any day now... It's pretty crazy to think about. I'm gonna have a baby, and Josh and I are going to be parents!

Baby Jeremy

So, we had another appointment this past Wednesday. We definitely like the new doc better than the old.

At the appointment last week, Josh went with me and asked the doctor if we were going to have anymore ultrasounds. The doctor said, no-unless medically necessary, but Josh asked if we could anyway because the last ultrasound with the old doc sucked. New doc said yes, so we had it this week. The baby is so big now that you can't see more than 1 section of his body at a time on the ultrasound screen. We saw his head (just the back), his chest, his belly, and his bottom half (couldn't really make out the legs or his wee wee because he is all squished in there and everything was bunched up). We saw his heart, 1 kidney and bladder up close. He was turned facing my back, so we couldn't see his face, and he wasn't in position for us to really get any good pictures. The nice thing was that the doctor kept asking us what we wanted to see and didn't rush anything.

So, it's no wonder that I grew out of a couple of my maternity pants. The doctor estimated the baby to be about 8 pounds! I have a feeling that is a little bit of an over estimate seeing as last week he only estimated the baby to be about 5 pounds. I don't think the baby grew 3 pounds in 1 week, but I am guessing he is probably about 7 pounds. I think last week was an underestimate and this week an over estimate. With 3 more weeks to go, I hope he's not already 8 pounds.

It definitely feels like he is running out of room in there. Sometimes it feels like he is trying to kick his way out. A couple of weeks ago it felt like he was trying to push himself out the side. I could feel his body pushed against one side of my belly and his feet kept repeatedly kicking the other side of my belly like he was trying to kick through. Now, he pushes his head down with his feet at the top of my belly. At least he is pushing himself in the right direction now! What a smart little bugger he is already.

My last day of work is going to be next Friday. It is so weird to think that I am not going to work again for over 2 months. I know I'll be super busy with a new baby, but as a work-a-holic, it is weird.

At my appointment next week, they are going to check to see if my body is starting to get ready for delivery or not (to put it nicely). I asked the doctor how far past my due date they would let me go if I was late. He said the first thing they look for is my body to progress and get ready for delivery. If it doesn't by 2 weeks, then they would probably induce. We'll see. I think I'll be good, though. I can tell the baby is ready to come out. Haha.

I can't wait to meet him. We definitely aren't fully prepared for him to come, yet, but we're getting there.

Who knew it was possible?

So, I've gotten so big that I've out grown my maternity clothes... Well, maybe not all of them, just one pair of pants size small and only in the belly. Poor little Jeremy was squished today. He's getting so big! Granted, I still have plenty of maternity clothes that fit and could easily go buy bigger sized clothes, but so close to the end-why?

Baby's First Halloween

So, we were very festive at work and allowed people to dress up for Halloween. Well, being preggo, I wasn't sure what the heck I could dress up as with a giant belly. Well, here's a picture of baby's first Halloween:

Everyone at work thought it was great. I made Snoopy myself! :)

Here's another picture of Snoopy with the other best costume of the day:

Rain, rain, don't go away

So, I woke up today to the lovely sound of rain falling on my window. It's crazy how one place can get so little rain. I think in the almost year and a half that I have lived in CA, I have seen it rain maybe 5 times. Apparently, it will sometimes rain at night and already be done and dry by the time you wake up in the morning, but I would hardly call that raining if the ground is already dry... As much as people in DE complain about when it rains (including myself when I lived there), it's really nice when it rains.

It's funny how you take certain things for granted until they don't happen anymore, like rain.

Blue, blue, blue

So, there's been a little concern with the fact that Josh and I don't know for sure what the sex of the baby is. If we had a baby girl, she'd have a lot of blue to wear... Well... The verdict is in and.......

IT'S A BOY!!!

So, I had my appointment with the new doc today. I ended up changing it to just a consultation because my current doc said if I get copies of my records, then I was officially no longer their patient. Crazy, huh? Well, I met with the new doc, and he seems pretty good. He didnt' just answer the questions I asked, but if it was in reference to a specific procedure, he explained why they did what they do and didn't just say yes or no.

Well, with my next scheduled appointment with the old doc, they were going to do another ultrasound to see if the baby had turned. The new doctor asked if I knew if the baby had turned yet, and I told him that I was scheduled to have an ultrasound at my next appointment with my current doctor to find out. Well, he had me lay back and did an ultrasound. The baby has officially turned, so he's head down and ready to go when it's time. I asked if the doctor could confirm the sex for me, and sure enough, there was the little penis-no doubt about it. Still no picture. I didn't want to ask for a picture because it wasn't an official appointment.

I have an appointment next week, and I'll find out if there is going to be another ultrasound. There should be another one closer to the delivery date so we can gauge how big the baby is. Needless to say, I've decided to officially change. The new doctor seems pretty good, and it is nice knowing we won't have to drive so far and worry about traffic. The new hospital is 10 minutes away driving through Long Beach-no high ways or rush hour traffic to worry about.

I feel bad, though. The office manager at the old doctor was working so hard to get everything worked out with the hospital. They did eventually make us an offer saying they wouldn't charge us more than the in-network out of pocket cost. That was good, but the distance still makes us uncomfortable. Also, the office manager said the hospital was able to charge more being out of network than in-network. Although they would only hold me to the 20%, and no more than the deductible out of pocket, I could still end up being more because of the non-restricted costs. I figure it would just be easier to go somewhere in-network.

Speaking of how big the baby is getting, he is getting HUGE! It is actually a little painful when he moves now. He hasn't gotten into my ribs yet, but his usual movements are a little painful. I have a feeling he might be bigger than 8 pounds... It's just a feeling I have. He looked so much bigger on the ultrasound today than he has before. My stomach is getting so big, too. My belly button still hasn't popped, though.

The countdown is on... A little over a month to go. How prepared are we do you ask? Well.... Getting more and more prepared each day, I think. Haha.

Holy Belly, Batman!

So, I guess as it should, my belly is continuing to get bigger and bigger... The pregnancy waddle is in full affect.

So, we are definitely changing doctors-smart at 33 weeks pregnant? Who knows, but it is a good decision. The doctor is a lot closer, and more importantly, the hospital we have to go to is a lot closer. The doctor came highly recommended by Tiffany, our land lord's wife. We also got recommendations for a pediatrician and dentist. Now, it's just a matter of getting everything else ready for the baby...

I'll get pictures of baby showers up soon. Anyone who has any, please e-mail them to me so I can put them up!

Our trip to DE was awesome-of course. I miss everyone already, though! I took zero pictures while there, so no picture updates on that other than the baby shower... Once we get the baby's room set-up (no estimated time on that...), I'll take some pictures to put up.
