Taking a week at a time to any day now...

At my last appointment last Wednesday, 11/26, I asked my doc if he thought the baby would be due on his due date. He said that we were just going to take it week by week.

Well, at my appointment yesterday, it is officially any day now that Jeremy could come. For those of you who know the terms (so I don't have to get too graphic), I haven't started dilating, but effacement has started. The baby is at -2 to -1 station. 0 station means he is ready to come out.

It sure is a good thing that I stopped working. There's no way I would be at all prepared if I was still working. This week has been spent making many runs to Babies 'R' Us and any where else that has stuff I think I'll need. I have been doing lots of loads of laundry. I started packing my bag for the hospital. I still need to clean the house. I have started making some dishes to freeze so we don't have to worry about cooking for a little bit after the baby is born. I wonder if I'll ever feel like we are fully prepared and ready for the baby to come.

The top of my stomach is a rounded square now with how big the baby is and how he sits. When I look down at it, it definitely looks like I have some form of ball under it. I'd say a medium sized beach ball. It's bigger than a volleyball or a basketball.

They say the baby supposedly moves less this late in the pregnancy, but Jeremy is already being a rebel and moves like crazy still. I swear he break dances in there. I mean, he's on his head and it definitely feels like he is spinning around and around. Haha.

We got the best rocking chair ever from Josh's Mom and Grandmother. It is amazing! It is technically a 'glider' because it doesn't actually rock. Here's what it looks like:

I am sitting in it right now as I type this blog, and it is truly amazing. We also got the dresser and changing table from our landlord, so we are all set there.

I think we are as ready as we are going to be...

Any day now... It's pretty crazy to think about. I'm gonna have a baby, and Josh and I are going to be parents!

Baby Jeremy

So, we had another appointment this past Wednesday. We definitely like the new doc better than the old.

At the appointment last week, Josh went with me and asked the doctor if we were going to have anymore ultrasounds. The doctor said, no-unless medically necessary, but Josh asked if we could anyway because the last ultrasound with the old doc sucked. New doc said yes, so we had it this week. The baby is so big now that you can't see more than 1 section of his body at a time on the ultrasound screen. We saw his head (just the back), his chest, his belly, and his bottom half (couldn't really make out the legs or his wee wee because he is all squished in there and everything was bunched up). We saw his heart, 1 kidney and bladder up close. He was turned facing my back, so we couldn't see his face, and he wasn't in position for us to really get any good pictures. The nice thing was that the doctor kept asking us what we wanted to see and didn't rush anything.

So, it's no wonder that I grew out of a couple of my maternity pants. The doctor estimated the baby to be about 8 pounds! I have a feeling that is a little bit of an over estimate seeing as last week he only estimated the baby to be about 5 pounds. I don't think the baby grew 3 pounds in 1 week, but I am guessing he is probably about 7 pounds. I think last week was an underestimate and this week an over estimate. With 3 more weeks to go, I hope he's not already 8 pounds.

It definitely feels like he is running out of room in there. Sometimes it feels like he is trying to kick his way out. A couple of weeks ago it felt like he was trying to push himself out the side. I could feel his body pushed against one side of my belly and his feet kept repeatedly kicking the other side of my belly like he was trying to kick through. Now, he pushes his head down with his feet at the top of my belly. At least he is pushing himself in the right direction now! What a smart little bugger he is already.

My last day of work is going to be next Friday. It is so weird to think that I am not going to work again for over 2 months. I know I'll be super busy with a new baby, but as a work-a-holic, it is weird.

At my appointment next week, they are going to check to see if my body is starting to get ready for delivery or not (to put it nicely). I asked the doctor how far past my due date they would let me go if I was late. He said the first thing they look for is my body to progress and get ready for delivery. If it doesn't by 2 weeks, then they would probably induce. We'll see. I think I'll be good, though. I can tell the baby is ready to come out. Haha.

I can't wait to meet him. We definitely aren't fully prepared for him to come, yet, but we're getting there.

Who knew it was possible?

So, I've gotten so big that I've out grown my maternity clothes... Well, maybe not all of them, just one pair of pants size small and only in the belly. Poor little Jeremy was squished today. He's getting so big! Granted, I still have plenty of maternity clothes that fit and could easily go buy bigger sized clothes, but so close to the end-why?

Baby's First Halloween

So, we were very festive at work and allowed people to dress up for Halloween. Well, being preggo, I wasn't sure what the heck I could dress up as with a giant belly. Well, here's a picture of baby's first Halloween:

Everyone at work thought it was great. I made Snoopy myself! :)

Here's another picture of Snoopy with the other best costume of the day:

Rain, rain, don't go away

So, I woke up today to the lovely sound of rain falling on my window. It's crazy how one place can get so little rain. I think in the almost year and a half that I have lived in CA, I have seen it rain maybe 5 times. Apparently, it will sometimes rain at night and already be done and dry by the time you wake up in the morning, but I would hardly call that raining if the ground is already dry... As much as people in DE complain about when it rains (including myself when I lived there), it's really nice when it rains.

It's funny how you take certain things for granted until they don't happen anymore, like rain.

Blue, blue, blue

So, there's been a little concern with the fact that Josh and I don't know for sure what the sex of the baby is. If we had a baby girl, she'd have a lot of blue to wear... Well... The verdict is in and.......

IT'S A BOY!!!

So, I had my appointment with the new doc today. I ended up changing it to just a consultation because my current doc said if I get copies of my records, then I was officially no longer their patient. Crazy, huh? Well, I met with the new doc, and he seems pretty good. He didnt' just answer the questions I asked, but if it was in reference to a specific procedure, he explained why they did what they do and didn't just say yes or no.

Well, with my next scheduled appointment with the old doc, they were going to do another ultrasound to see if the baby had turned. The new doctor asked if I knew if the baby had turned yet, and I told him that I was scheduled to have an ultrasound at my next appointment with my current doctor to find out. Well, he had me lay back and did an ultrasound. The baby has officially turned, so he's head down and ready to go when it's time. I asked if the doctor could confirm the sex for me, and sure enough, there was the little penis-no doubt about it. Still no picture. I didn't want to ask for a picture because it wasn't an official appointment.

I have an appointment next week, and I'll find out if there is going to be another ultrasound. There should be another one closer to the delivery date so we can gauge how big the baby is. Needless to say, I've decided to officially change. The new doctor seems pretty good, and it is nice knowing we won't have to drive so far and worry about traffic. The new hospital is 10 minutes away driving through Long Beach-no high ways or rush hour traffic to worry about.

I feel bad, though. The office manager at the old doctor was working so hard to get everything worked out with the hospital. They did eventually make us an offer saying they wouldn't charge us more than the in-network out of pocket cost. That was good, but the distance still makes us uncomfortable. Also, the office manager said the hospital was able to charge more being out of network than in-network. Although they would only hold me to the 20%, and no more than the deductible out of pocket, I could still end up being more because of the non-restricted costs. I figure it would just be easier to go somewhere in-network.

Speaking of how big the baby is getting, he is getting HUGE! It is actually a little painful when he moves now. He hasn't gotten into my ribs yet, but his usual movements are a little painful. I have a feeling he might be bigger than 8 pounds... It's just a feeling I have. He looked so much bigger on the ultrasound today than he has before. My stomach is getting so big, too. My belly button still hasn't popped, though.

The countdown is on... A little over a month to go. How prepared are we do you ask? Well.... Getting more and more prepared each day, I think. Haha.

Holy Belly, Batman!

So, I guess as it should, my belly is continuing to get bigger and bigger... The pregnancy waddle is in full affect.

So, we are definitely changing doctors-smart at 33 weeks pregnant? Who knows, but it is a good decision. The doctor is a lot closer, and more importantly, the hospital we have to go to is a lot closer. The doctor came highly recommended by Tiffany, our land lord's wife. We also got recommendations for a pediatrician and dentist. Now, it's just a matter of getting everything else ready for the baby...

I'll get pictures of baby showers up soon. Anyone who has any, please e-mail them to me so I can put them up!

Our trip to DE was awesome-of course. I miss everyone already, though! I took zero pictures while there, so no picture updates on that other than the baby shower... Once we get the baby's room set-up (no estimated time on that...), I'll take some pictures to put up.

Sick

So, I know I've been promising the new ultrasound pics for awhile now, but I'm not feeling so hot... I will get them scanned and up sometime this week.

There is this nasty cold that has been going around work. My throat has been a little sore all weekend, and today my head is killing me, and I feel a little warm. I'm trying to rest and relax so I can gt better.

I had my last appointment last Wednesday. It was the usual 5 minute appointment. I had my diabetes test done, too. So far, so good, I guess. No news is good news. My next ultrasound is right before I head out to the East Coast on Oct. 1. We'll see how this baby is growing.

He seems like he is getting pretty big. He's still flipping around, so I guess it's not getting to tight in my belly. I can't believe that he's going to be here in 3 months! Time is flying by so fast!

The one thing that is crazy is he gets hiccups all the time. He gets them at least 3 times a day. It used to only be after I ate, but sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night and he has them. he's definitely getting stronger... His kicks and punches hurt sometimes. The other morning, I was laying in bed and it felt like he was doing the iron cross in my belly... I wish I could see what he was doing when he moves sometimes. His movements feel crazy sometimes...

Bare Belly

So, here is a picture of my bare belly. Boy, am I pregnant. It gets bigger every day, too. My tat is holding up pretty nicely. Luckily, the baby is starting to move up and doesn't kick me in the bladder as much. It is really annoying when you've just gone to the bathroom, and you get a kick in the bladder and immediately have to go again. My next appointment is on Sept. 10. My next ultrasound should be a couple of weeks after that. That's all the to update for now.

Bigger by the day

So, as the days go on, I get bigger and bigger. I guess that's how this whole pregnancy thing works, huh? Haha.

So, the picture to the right was taken last Friday while I was at work. I'll have another picture taken and post it soon because I swear, I'm way bigger now. I definitely look pregnant now. My belly is getting so big that when I look at my belly button (sans belly button ring-that's right, I took it out), I can actually see to the very back of my belly button! I figure it'll pop out in a month or so. Luckily, as predicted, just my belly is getting giant. My thighs are bigger, but not huge. I'm starting to get pregnancy aches and pains. My back is starting to ache and my feet are sore by the end of day. I'm starting to get short of breath, too. I'm still wiped out by the time I get home.

The baby is kicking as I type. He sits so low in my belly that all he does is kick my bladder. Not fun, let me tell you. He is definitely getting stronger, too. It still blows my mind a little that I have a little human growing inside me. Crazy.

I will eventually get the new ultrasound pictures scanned and post them up. They aren't as good as I was hoping they would be. I'll have another ultrasound in late September. Hopefully, those pictures will be better.

Other than the pregnancy changes, not much else is new. Still just making it through one day at a time.

Jackpot!

So, we hit the jackpot this weekend-no, not the lottery, but the baby/maternity clothes jackpot. The owner of our apartment complex has been giving us things here and there for the baby-a high chair, a bit plastic tyco kids table, a motorized swing thing, etc.

Well, this weekend he had a garage sale-a garage that is right next to our apartment. He is going to try to rent it out, so he spent this weekend cleaning it out and had a garage sale on Saturday and Sunday.

Well, he has supplied us with 0-18 month old clothes-probably enough new born clothes to get us through the first 6 months, at least without having to buy things-not that this will stop us from buying any cute clothes that we see/can afford. But anyway, that still helps us be more prepared. Also, his wife had a ton of big rubbermaid containers full of maternity clothes. The best part is it was mostly clothes that she wore to work and some casual clothes, so I pretty much don't need to shop for maternity clothes-woo! I hate shopping.

Also, we are getting a narrow 5 drawer dresser and a changing table for the baby. I'm telling you, this apartment was the best thing that could have happened to us and having an awesome landlord is definitely the cherry on top.

We also got a new futon from him for $20 and a rad double-wide ottoman for $10 that I am going to make a slip for, but otherwise it is awesome. It is one of those ones where the top opens up, and you can store things inside it. The futon is a pretty expensive one where the back folds up, and it is a couch, but if you lie fold it flat to make a bed, one of the ends can also be folded up, so you can have your head raised up. When it is laid flat, the futon is the size of a twin bed, which isn't huge, but it's good enough to be a guest bed when we have visitors (hint, hint...). It is pretty nice, though.

I definitely showed my thanks for everything that he has done/given us by helping out with the garage sale on Saturday. I woke up at 7:00 on Saturday morning to what I thought was the door bell. I thought I had dreamt it until Josh's phone rang, and it was the apartment manager calling. It turned out they needed us to move our cars for the garage sale. Well, I am at the point where I can't go back to sleep once I wake up, so I went out and helped with the garage sale. It started out with the owner of the building telling me to go through all the baby and maternity clothes to see what I wanted (for free). I then started helping move rubbermaid tubs, organize books, and helped people who were browsing if Dominic (the owner) was busy helping someone else. I helped the entire time they had the sale open on Saturday, so I think I did a pretty good job of showing my appreciation for what he has given us. He didn't ask me to help, and I probably would have even if he weren't giving us a lot of free stuff, but I think it helped make it a trade as opposed to him just giving us free stuff for nothing.

Anyway, this weekend was awesome, and we made out pretty darn well. I'm pretty happy with it. :)

1 Year goes by so fast

So, yeah, I definitely have the best guy in the world. As usual, I woke up today before anyone else in the house and ate some breakfast and took my prenatal vitamin. I stayed awake for a little while and watched some t.v. I ended up going back to bed to take a nap, and Josh and Nate got up. So, I woke up from my nap to a dozen roses and a smoothie. I knew Josh and my 1 year anniversary was around this time, but we had never really talked about the exact date. Well, it's official. August 3 is our anniversary date. We ended up getting some chicken and steak and having some BBQ for dinner. It was a perfect day.

A not so perfect part of the day was giving Weeble a bath and trying to de-flea our apartment. My legs look like I've got some kind of disease or something with all the flea bites they have. Apparently, all the hormones going through me make me a much better meal than Josh or Nate. Kitty cats really don't like baths or water at all. She wasn't as bad as the last time she had a bath. The worst part is you have to keep the flea shampoo on them for 5 minutes, so trying to hold her and keep her from freaking out is the hardest part. She was dirrrty. I vacuumed every surface in the house, and already notice a change. We gotta get all the fleas out before little Bubba gets here.

I can't believe it's been a year already, though. Thinking back, I know a lot has happened, like having a baby on the way, but at the same time, it doesn't seem like anything is really different. I don't know. It's hard to explain. All I know is that I am pretty damn happy with how things have turned out. I've got a great guy who will be an awesome Dad to our baby. I just need to get a position at work that suits me better and things will be truly perfect. That is, hopefully, soon to come.

Kicks & Punches!!!

So, the baby is really kicking away now. He kicks when Josh talks to my belly - it's really cute. He's also big enough to where if he's on one side of my belly, my belly gets lop-sided.

I was doing some work on my laptop the other day and the baby started going crazy. I don't know if it was the laptop being so close to my belly or what; that was a first. He is really getting strong. You can't see his kicks on my stomach yet, but people have been telling me as I get further along I'll be able to see when he kicks on the outside of my belly. That’s going to be crazy!

My belly continues to get bigger and bigger. I've still only gained about 7-8 pounds so far. I'll be 22 out of 40 weeks along as of Monday. I think my stomach is huge, but everyone that sees it says my belly is still so small. Seems pretty big to me – haha!

By the way, Margit did not think of the name Cole as the middle name. I told her what we were thinking of naming the baby, and she was commenting that she liked the name. I think Jeremy Cole is a pretty cute name; It flows.

Josh is already telling the baby he is going to have to learn karate and taekwondo to protect me when he isn't around - haha. He's definitely getting his practice kicking in my belly.

I can't believe it’s already August. This summer is going by so fast. It doesn't even seem like I've done anything; I've only been to the beach two times. Man, how time flies!

Welcome to California

So, I went through my first earthquake on Tuesday. It was craazy... I was in a meeting with my team, and all of a sudden, everything started to shake. Apparently, I had this crazy look on my face, like what the hell, and I grabbed the computer and tried to hold it still. All of a sudden, my associates were yelling, "Everyone get under the tables!" The next thing you know, the entire building was shaking. It shook for about 30-45 seconds, which doesn't seem like a long time, but when the whole building is shaking, it is a pretty long time. Once it stopped, we ran back to our desks to be with everyone else and my associates got under their regular desks. We went outside and stood out there for awhile. Apparently, they had engineers check out the building to make sure it was safe. Well, there were cracks on a lot of the walls. There were 3 T.V.s hanging from the ceiling that fell on the third floor. Yeah, some genius thought it would be a great idea to hang 27 inch (I don't know exactly how big they are, but at least that big, if not bigger) from the ceiling in an area that has earthquakes. Apparently, we were pretty close to the epicenter of the earthquake, so we got it pretty bad. Luckily, my entire team decided to go home afterwards, so it was a pretty good afternoon. So, I survived my first earthquake. Some people got really upset and were crying, but it wasn't too bad. Apparently, there was a really bad one a few years ago, which is why some people really freaked out.

So, the pregnancy is still going very well. My stomach still gets bigger and bigger every day. Josh finally felt the baby kick for real last night. He was pretty siked. It's pretty crazy feeling the baby kick. I can also feel it when he is just flipping around in there.

I think we've decided on a name-Jeremy Cole. Let me know what you think. I think it is pretty cute. We are going to have a girl's name picked out just in case, but I have no idea what it is going to be, yet.

Here is a picture of my giant belly. It is a terrible picture, so please don't pay attention to how I actually look. It looks like I have a double chin (I swear I've only gained 6 pounds or so). I just had Josh take a quick picture of me with my belly so everyone could see how big it's gotten with his phone, so it is not a good quality picture and not flattering for me at all, but it really shows my belly well. I actually look pregnant in it for sure. Don't mind the guy in the wet suit on the T.V. We are watching Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. Yeah, that is my actually belly-no stuffing or anything. It is pretty crazy. I will post the new ultrasound pictures once I get them scanned onto the computer.

Drum roll, please....

So, we had the second ultrasound appointment on Friday. The conclusion I came to in whether or not to find out was if the baby wanted us to know, then it would be positioned in a way that we could find out. So....it's a boy! We didn't get a good money shot, but we're pretty sure. The technician pointed out his little peepee to us, but we didn't get a good picture of it. The baby wasn't cooperating and kept his legs closed when we tried. Apparently, you don't have to drink a lot of water anymore when you get your ultrasound. I drank a ton of water, and I think it made it harder see the baby. The ultrasound pictures aren't as clear as I thought they would be. I haven't gotten a chance to scan them on the computer, yet, but will put them up as soon as I do. Now it's just time to think of a name...

My stomach is definitely showing now, too. I swear, it is bigger every morning I wake up. I went out and got pregnancy friendly clothes. I haven't gotten any pants, yet, but I got a few shirts that I am pretty sure I should be able to wear through most of my pregnancy. I got a couple of dresses, too. Nothing to moo-mooish, yet, but I'm sure those will come at the end. For now just 2 dresses that should fit my belly, but are still cute.

The baby's kicks are definitely getting harder, too. Nothing painful, but definitely much stronger. Josh still hasn't gotten a chance to feel it, yet. I swear, when he's not around, the baby kicks like he's kicking a soccer ball, but when Josh is around, he sleeps or just kind of flips around to where you can't really feel him.

It's crazy to believe that there is actually a baby in my stomach... When we were at the ultrasound, you could see his arms and legs moving around. He's so big now that his whole body didn't fit in one shot like the first picture. I can't even imagine the next one.

Sex or no sex?

So, I had an appointment this past Tuesday. I thought it was going to be the big appointment where we could find out what sex the baby was. I made Josh come and everything. Well, it turns out it wasn't the big day. The big day is next Friday. I'm up in the air whether or not I want to find out. Josh really wants to know. I understand the reasons for not wanting to know, but I really like the idea of being surprised. It's wierd that I don't want to know because I am the type of person that needs to be able to plan everthing out. Josh, of course, is awesome and said if I don't want to know, he'll do what I want, but I know he definitely wants to know. The appointment on Tuesday was just a general 5 minute appointment. We heard the heart beat again. 150 beats per minute. I asked the doc if that was fast, which he said it was, but he said not to try to use that as an "old wives tale" test of whether it's a boy or girl. He said the heart beat is still not regulated by the brain yet. Josh also wants to look for a doctor that is closer to Long Beach. I understand looking for a new doctor because our doctor is like 45 minutes away, but I really like my doctor. As the office manager for the doctor said, "Once you've had one person digging around in there, you don't want to have anyone else do it." I mean, with a comment like that, how could they not be meant to be the doctor of an Olson? My stomach is definitely looking pregnant. When I do have my girl moments and talk about how "fat" I'm getting, Josh pulls out the brownie points and says, "Baby, you're not fat, you're just pregnant." Yeah, who couldn't love a guy like that? Not that I'm really gaining much weight. I've only gained 4 pounds since my last appointment, which I guess is really right on track. It definitely seems like I should have gained more with the size of my belly and my giant rack. Right...I don't think I'll ever have a giant rack, even being pregnant and all, but I guess time will tell. Still haven't had the usual symptoms of being pregnant. No puking, no swollen feet or hands, yet. My blood is definitely flowing double time. I hate to jinx myself, but I think I'm having a pretty darn good pregnancy. Everything else is life is all right. Work is work. Nate moved in with us last week. It's pretty sweet. Well, if you've got any thoughts on whether you think we should find out or not, then leave me a comment and let me know!

Internet, at last

So, we finally got the internet again-woo! Just got back from dinner with Nate and Josh. We are getting more and more settled in the new apartment. Still have some work to do, but it's good. Nate is moving in for a few months, which will be good so we can save some money. I've gained 4 pounds since my last appointment, which is pretty much what I should have gained. Also, I just ate, so I'll have to weigh myself when I'm not really full. My bottomless pit of a stomach has now gotten a bottom. I eat like a girl now and rarely ever finish a meal completely...the baby's already taking up a lot of room in my stomach, I guess. I'm definitely showing now. I think I am at the point where you can tell I am pregnant just looking at me. I haven't gotten bigger clothes, yet, but it'll have to happen soon. Luckily, all my work clothes were too big for me to begin with, so I don't think I will have to buy new work clothes for a little bit. I can definitely feel the baby kicking. It's not strong enough for other people to feel it. It's kicked a few times when Josh is feeling my belly, and he hasn't felt it. My next appointment is on Tuesday. I think we can find out what the baby is, if we want. I thought we were in agreement not to find out...until last weekend. Josh has decided he thinks he wants to know. I still don't know, yet. Understandably, it would be much easier to prepare, but I still like the idea of being surprised. I don't know. We'll see. We still haven't really decided on names. Or really thought about it..is that bad? There's just been a lot going on, but now that we are getting more settled in the new place, we'll start working on it. We talked about it a little tonight at dinner, but came up with nothing. Well, Josh said he thought of the name Mila, but I'm not sure. A little too close to my name, if you ask me. Oh well, we still have plenty of time.

The Big Move

So, Josh and I moved into our new place last weekend. It was a very busy weekend with Lucy and Richie coming out to visit, too. Here's how the weekend went...

Lucy and I hung out on Friday and went to the Long Beach Aquarium. It was so much fun. We watched the sharks get fed, which was a little disappointing because there weren't big chunks of bloody fish being thrown in like we were hoping. We also touched a lot of rays and sharks. Saw the Sea Lions and all kinds of sea life. Then we went back to Lucy and Richard's hotel and swam in the pool and went down the 186 foot long water slide-that's long, not high. It was pretty fun. I think we went down it like 10 times.

Josh and I spent all day Saturday moving into the new apartment. Despite my offer to help move boxes, I was not allowed to lift a box, so I packed while Josh and his friend, Nate, moved all the big stuff into the new apartment. Luckily, the new place is only a few blocks from the old place, so it wasn't so bad. Then, I had the fun job of spending 5 HOURS cleaning the old aparment. But let me just say, it was SPOTLESS.

On Sunday, Lucy, Richard and I went to DiSnEyLaNd! My friend, Jeff, who works there hooked us up and got us in for free, which was sweet. It was so much fun. We got there at 10, went on a ton of rides, ate a lot of junk food, saw fireworks, and didn't leave until 10. Richie had to leave at one point to go to a final meeting for his conference and Lucy and I were planning on going back to the hotel (I was hoping for a nap, but really the plan was to go to the pool), but Disneyland was so fun that we never left! We saw the end of the High School Musical parade, saw the Pixar parade, and got wet on Grizzly Bear Rapids. The fireworks were awesome, too. I like fireworks a lot.

So, needless to say, it was a very fun, yet tiring weekend. This whole week has been pretty exhausting still. I haven't gone to bed before midnight this entire week, which for me since I got pregnant is craaazy. Since I found out I am pregnant, I haven't stayed up past 10, and usually I'm in bed by 8 or 9 at the latest. Yeah, I'm a party animal...

Josh and I are getting settled in the new place. We bought stools for our counter top area. We bought lamps for the living room and our dark, dark bedroom-it doesn't have a single light except in the half-bath, which doesn't really help much to light the room as you walk in... Our new little place is really coming together. Now it's time for a kitchen table and a new couch adnwe'll be all set!

My first bad pregnancy day

So, all this talking about how I haven't had any negatives during the pregnancy so far finally caught up to me. I woke up Monday morning feeling like the baby was stretching out its arms and legs side ways in my belly. It didn't really hurt, but was very uncomfortable whenever I stood up. I was finally able to get up and start my day. Took a shower and got so light headed. And what do you know, my wonderful nose felt left out, so it start bleeding, too. Yeah, it was a lovely morning. So, I finally made it to work, not too late. I was considering going home early, but then we were having an awesome lunch during a manager meeting, so I made it through the day. I can't say no to food! I felt much better today-thank goodness. My belly is really starting to get bigger. It's not too bad in the morning, but as I eat throughout the day, it gets bigger and bigger. It's getting pretty hard, too. I think I felt the baby moving around in there last weekend, but I'm not too sure. I can't wait until I can really feel it moving around in there...

Josh and I have started packing up for the new apartment. Luckily, I never really had room to unpack my stuff in this apartment, so I really only have my clothes and the kitchen stuff to pack up. Hopefully it won't be too hot this weekend. We went to the beach last Saturday, and it was perfect. The weather was perfect out and the water was cool enough to be refreshing, but not so cold you didn't want to stay in. It definitely made me happy to be in California. I think I'm going to have to start shopping for some bigger clothes soon. And a new non-bikini bathing suit. We'll see.

Alien Heartbeats

So, I had my second appointment on Monday. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat! So, I taped it for Josh on this super old cassette recorder that has started eating the the tape (of course, I have stopped playing back the tape in the recorder that is trying to eat it). So, I brought home the tape and played it for Josh and he decided it sounded like an alien. Haha. I sure hope there's not a little alien my belly... I guess we'll find out in 5 months. Still no puking and no more nausea. This whole pregnancy thing seems to be going pretty well. My belly is starting to show. I don't think I'm going to get to skip the in-between stage where I don't quite look pregnant, yet. Also, I've lost 2 pounds since my first appoint. Not sure if that is good or bad, but the nurse said it was ok. I am eating all the time, I swear.

In other big news, Josh and I found a new apartment. It is pretty nice. The living room, dining room and kitchen all open up into each other. There's a counter area that you can see from the kitchen into the living room and enough of a counter to get some stools to sit at it. There is actually a master bedroom with a 1/2 bath. The bathroom is set-up pretty neat. The sink is in an open area and then the toilet and shower are closed behind a door. There's 2 off-street parking spots, which is pretty sweet. We move in next weekend. It's going to be a busy weekend because Richard and Lucy are coming to visit, too. I can't wait. I figure spend 1 day moving everything in and hang out with them 2 days. It's going to be pretty awesome.

Post for Margit

So, a day late, but here is a post for Margit. Apparently, she gets bored at work and wants something to read. So, my belly is starting to pop out. I really want to skip the "in between" stage and go from not pregnant to pregnant. I'd really like to skip the "looks like I need to start working out and lose some belly" stage. Haha. Every day I get more excited about having the baby. I really can't wait until I can feel it moving around in there. Josh and I are looking for a new apartment. Luckily, we'll be moving before I get too huge, so it shouldn't be bad. I have my next appointment on Monday. It'll be exciting to hear the heart beat. I think they do that at this appointment. I saw it beating when I had the first ultra sound. It was so tiny and fast... One of the downsides is I am tired ALL the time. I feel like an old lady. I go to bed at like 8 or 9 every night. I can't even remember the last time I did that-maybe back in Middle School? Nah, probably not even then. I hope everyone enjoys lots of random thoughts because I think that is what my blog is mostly going to be. My brain jumps all over the place. Speaking of my brain jumping, I thought my memory was bad before I got pregnant... Not even close to right now. I forget everything and what I read doesn't register to my brain apparently... Someone on my team will put a message in our team communicator, and I will go to someone completely different. I at least get the gender of the person right. Who knew my memory could get any worse? Well, it's getting past my bed time... More to come later, Margit, promise.

Whoa Baby!

So, here is my official blog about the baby. Unlike the rest of the Olson Clan, I didn't inherit the witty gene, but I will try not to make this too boring. I had my first appointment on May 20th. Somehow the doctor was able to determine that I was exactly 11 weeks and 1 day along... Not sure how, but that's what he said. My due date is in December. It was pretty crazy having that first ultra sound. There was actually a baby in there! I even saw it's little heart beat. So far, I have not puked at all, which is awesome. I was getting nauseous for a little when I would eat, but even that has gone away. As I write this, I am 1 day away from being 14 weeks along. My waist is getting thicker and most of my pants are getting a little tight. I'm not showing yet, but I think it's just around the corner. Here's a picture of the ultra sound:

Pretty crazy, if you ask me. That's all for now.
